A visit from Mary Lou McDonald

visit

Our QQI 4 Level and QQI Level 5 students had a special visitor on Monday (25th of March) it was the President of Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald. McDonald's visit inspired students, encouraging them to actively participate in the political process and advocate for positive change in their communities. Her impassioned plea for youth involvement in shaping Ireland's future resonated deeply, igniting a sense of empowerment and responsibility among the audience.

Alongside Mary Lou McDonald, Alan Whelan, a candidate in the council elections for Sinn Féin, brought a different perspective to the event. Whelan's focus was on opportunities available to students after graduation, particularly in further education and career development.

Whelan shared his journey of pursuing a career as a lecturer, highlighting the various pathways and opportunities available for students interested in pursuing similar paths.

The visit of Mary Lou McDonald and Alan Whelan to the National College of Ireland provided students with a unique opportunity to explore both the current issues facing Ireland and the diverse opportunities available to them post-graduation.
