QQI Level 5 Sports Course for L.I.F.E. 2023/2024

North Wall CDP is the provider of the L.I.F.E. – the Learning In a Football Environment Course (QQI Level 5 Sports, Recreation & Exercise).

Our focus is to engage young learners in the NEIC and progress them to their chosen pathway, be it further education or employment. Our new 44-week course starts in September 2023. It is almost full but we are still recruiting for the last few places.

The course is enhanced by digital tools, including a VEO camera, Match analysis software and GPS analytical equipment. We are working in collaboration with Bohemian Football Club (who provide course uniforms, guest speakers and club visit opportunities) and the National College of Ireland (who provide classroom facilities). Participants will also obtain Lifeguarding, First Aid and FAI qualifications. They will gain relevant expertise and top class work experience in a variety of fields, inside the Sports, Football and  Gym/Fitness industry.

Overall, this is a course that provides both a QQI Level 5 Major award which provides you with CAO points (Total Possible CAO Points: 390) and important life and job skills. For more information contact:  John Behan on 085-144 2557 or Craig Caffrey 085-256 5597.

On 9th January this year, North Wall CDP rolled out its new 44-week Sports, Recreational and Exercise course.  Since then, it has gone from strength to strength. Learners take part in daily football practice, gym training and themed classwork. This is an accredited, industry entry level QQI Level 5 course and is enhanced by the addition of RLSS Lifeguard and First Aid qualifications.  Learners participate in multi-sport workshops and activity trips and have guest speakers. Those who meet the eligibility criteria get a training and meal allowance.

This course is funded by CDETB under the Local Training Initiative (LTI) programme.  Funding from REACH fund ensures that technology and digital analytical equipment are available to the learners, for example, GPS trackers and VEO camera.  North Wall CDP have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bohemian’s F.C. which adds a further professional and development element.

Our new Sports course has been renamed L.I.F.E. (Learning in a Football Environment).  This year the course is located in National College of Ireland (NCI) and being delivered from there also.  Learners recently joined with other college students to celebrate ‘Fresher’s Week’. It was a great experience and helped break down stereotypes on all sides.
